SOCIAL WORKER VACANCY
Child Welfare Durban and District is an established non-governmental organization dedicated to the care of children and young people. We are seeking to appoint a suitable qualified social worker for a FULL TIME POSITION. The selected candidate will work in the corresponding teams.
To be considered, applicants must have:
• Degree in social work
• Minimum of at least 2 years of experience in the field of child protection, including practical experience
• Commitment to transformation.
• Knowledge of Child Protective Services.
• Knowledge of child protection legislation (Children’s Law)
• Driver’s license without a visa
• Registration in SACSSP
• No criminal record
• Good computer skills
The applicant is expected to meet, but is not limited to, the following requirements:
• Efficient and comprehensive reporting documentation;
• Facilitate permanency planning for all referred children; Ensure retention goals are managed and achieved quickly.
• Carry out a needs assessment of individual children and facilitate the provision of the appropriate range of clinical and concrete services as needed for each child;
• Access foster parents for potential suitability as adoptive parents;
• Support services for temporary secure caregivers;
• Help foster and adoptive parents manage children placed in their homes;
• Provide direct counseling and case management services for foster and adopted children and their families;
• Comply with all regulatory and State Organization requirements in accordance with the Children’s Law;
• Collaborate with all interested parties as necessary for permanency planning and other matters;
• Prepare full reports and participate as a team member in the Organization’s case review meetings;
• Supervision of visits between children and birth families and possible adoptive families
• Conduct all home visits as required in case management.
• Facilitate intervention after placement.
• Help adoptees in the search for their origins.
