Executive Housekeeper/Front Office Assistant
We are looking for an Executive Housekeeper/Front Office Assistant to join our team. We are looking for a hands-on, highly energetic, vibrant team player who can provide supervision and direction for all Housekeeping activities of the resort to ensure the highest levels of
cleanliness and guest satisfaction are maintained. Handle necessary support functions and administrative responsibilities as needed to maintain an impeccable office environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
- Implements and maintains Housekeeping department minimum standards. Responsible for the training, and supervision of property housekeeping staff.
- Assist in the front office when necessary, including handling reservations.
- Plan, organize, and monitor staff activities to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards set by the resort, which requires continuous visual inspection of guestrooms and public space areas. Evaluate condition of furniture, fixtures, décor, etc. Make recommendations and assist in the coordination of rehab projects.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction in assigning housekeeping and laundry staff in details of work.
- Distribute and delegate workload to guarantee maximum productivity and guest satisfaction with minimum outlay of expenses in terms of labor and materials. Monitor house count and make staffing adjustments accordingly.
- Analyze data and compile reports in relation to resort housekeeping and maintenance. Establish and maintain adequate supplies for efficient operation of department. Supervise the operation and inventory of linen, uniform, supply and storage rooms.
- Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for Team Members and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies.
- Manage guest lost and found including, store and inventory all items, conduct any guest inquiry phone calls, and get guest mailing information as needed.
- Monitor issuance of keys and maintain inventory.
- Other reasonable duties and special projects as requested by the General Manager.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant chemicals.
- Basic mathematical skills necessary to prepare reports and assist in the front office.
- Ability to effectively deal with employees and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, resolve conflicts and collect accurate information.
- Knowledge of policies applicable to housekeeping; especially those relating to safety and security of guest and hotel property.
- Supervisory skills to manage entire housekeeping operation.
- Ability to coordinate and cooperate with other departments regarding housekeeping services/activities.
- Ability to deal effectively with Team Members, vendors and contractors.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and move continuously to inspect rooms across the resort.
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a simple computer system.
- Ensuring the front desk provides a professional and friendly service for guests
- Typing presentation materials and other various documents
- Responsible for answering external and internal calls and relaying accurate messages
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
Any combination of education, training or experience equivalent to graduation from college or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Matric certificate or equivalent required. Higher Certificate in Hospitality, or similar qualification as well as sufficient industry experience. preferred.
- At least 2 years experience in Supervisory/Front Office/Assistant Housekeeping position is preferred.
- Expertise and proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are required.
- Ability to speak and understand isiZulu and Afrikaans is an advantage.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Reporting
- The individual reports to the General Manager.
Salary
Market related – based on qualifications and experience.
