About the MQA
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) operating under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). It also supports mine health and safety initiatives under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE). MQA facilitates skills development within the mining and minerals sector by the Skills Development Act (Act 97 of 1998) and the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).
Internship Overview
MQA invites unemployed South African citizens who have not previously participated in an internship program to apply for a Supply Chain Management Internship within its Supply Chain Unit.
The Accepted candidate will be appointed on a two-year fixed-term contract and report to the Supply Chain Management Manager.
Key Responsibilities
The intern will gain hands-on experience and exposure in the following areas:
Contract management
Compliance with PFMA, PPPFA, BBBEE, and corporate governance policies
Tender evaluation processes
Processing and monitoring purchase orders and supplier deliveries
Recordkeeping and document tracking (contracts, invoices, purchase orders)
Supporting issue resolution affecting internal or external stakeholders
Document management in line with ISO standards
General administrative tasks within the unit
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent in:
Supply Chain Management
Public Management / Public Administration
Logistics / Purchasing Management
Additional Advantage:
A Bachelor’s Degree or NQF Level 7 qualification in the above fields
Required Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of education, training, and public sector compliance frameworks
Ability to work under pressure with a proactive attitude
Attention to detail and high accuracy in administrative tasks
Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
