Child Welfare Durban & District is a non-profit organization providing child protection services for over 102 years. Our primary goal is to provide child protection services for abandoned, abused, neglected and orphaned children in and around Durban. We are seeking to appoint a Facilities Manager for FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT for the Lakehaven Child and Youth Care Center.
The successful candidate will manage the Lakehaven Child and Youth Care Center and report to the Senior Manager of the Northern Group. The facility manager is a key member of the senior management team and is involved in making strategic decisions for the efficient operation of the residential facility.
The ideal candidate must be in possession of:
• Management experience in Social Work or Child and Youth Care
• Degree in social work
• Registered with the Council of Social Services Professions.
• Valid driver’s license without visa.
The candidate must:
• Be able to provide effective leadership to a staff team.
• Have excellent organizational and communication skills
• Show a high level of professional competence and full familiarity with current developments in child care and social work theory and practice;
• Be familiar with current government welfare policy documents relating to children, welfare in general, and the funding of welfare services;
• Strong management skills, including people management, budget preparation and management, and the ability to exercise control over expenses;
• Ability to provide professional development to department staff;
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including child and youth care professionals and workers;
• A strong development focus for the child and youth care program
• Manage and supervise the daily operation of the staff and volunteers assigned to the Residential Department team and ensure the achievement of all key performance areas and take appropriate corrective action when necessary.
• Identify problem areas and recommend solutions to the Senior Manager
• Carry out related tasks as assigned.
• Implement strategy as determined
• The ability to identify challenges and recommend changes accordingly.
• Essential own transport.
• Be able to work after hours when necessary as the facility operates 24 hours a day.
