Plant Production Manager

The Senior Production Manager is responsible for contributing to the profitability and growth of OBP Limited by planning, managing and implementing the strategic objectives of the production function.

Major responsibilities include: * Analyze the sales forecast to develop a weekly rolling plan for production * Oversee the implementation of production plans and report on progress on a weekly basis * Ensure constant communication with Engineering Maintenance and Utilities; Sales and Marketing; Production team; and Supply Chain in order to coordinate and streamline production cycles * Prioritize the production line to be manufactured taking into account the importance of relevant products for OBP according to customer demand. * In the event of major failures, reschedule and reprioritize planned production and assist in contingency planning to allow planned and emergency maintenance to take place. * * Ensuring all production SOPs and batch documents are approved and submitted on time * Ensuring traceability of all materials and processes, and that all relevant documentation is available. * Ensures that all managers adhere to the quality principles required for ISO certification. * Ensure that all actions required to complete GMP as per the roadmap are completed on time. * Participate in focused improvement efforts to improve safety, quality, costs, and yields. * Participate in training for process improvement techniques and implement and strengthen techniques in departments through continuous training. * Drive change management initiatives to improve communication of process improvement techniques. * Design and undertake experiments using project management principles to improve production processes. *Lead root cause analysis investigations and close the problem solving loop by using problem solving techniques (5-whys; Ishikawa analysis) when KPAs are not achieved. * Determine the deliverables of the department based on the strategic purposes of the entity. * Ensure that performance agreements for managers are aligned with the strategic purposes of the entity. * Complete all required Employee Relations Management actions within allotted timeframes. * Manage and control the relevant cost centers / budgets of the department to ensure alignment with the revenue and efficiency objectives of the organization. * Contain costs while maintaining high levels of impact and performance. * Ensure the mitigation of the department’s risk profile through the application of fraud controls and risk prevention principles and the implementation of robust governance and compliance processes and tools to identify and manage risks * Help develop standard operating procedures * Liaison and supervision of contractors when necessary * Comply with all safety, environmental and occupational health requirements * Conduct risk assessments prior to task execution and ensure risk mitigation * Comply with safety, cleanliness and environmental requirements site environment.

Minimum Requirements: *Honors Level in Operations Management (NQF .*BSc in Biological Sciences would be advantageous *At least 10 years experience in a GMP bio/pharmaceutical production environment with at least 5 years managerial experience. *Required experience in quality management.

Remuneration: A Paterson Grade D remuneration package will be offered commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
