Childline South Africa is a non-profit organisation which works to protect children from
violence and further the culture of children’s rights in South Africa. Childline runs a national,
24-hour, toll-free telephone counselling service for children and adults.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will serve as a First responder at the Crisis Centre
- Provide safe and confidential crisis interventions for survivors of sexual
violence. - Assist the client in being prepared for the services that will be performed and
liaise effectively with all role players to ensure that survivors are attended to
promptly. - Provide trauma containment/acute psychological support and support to
survivors throughout the process of receiving services at a designated sexual
violence facility. - Provide treatment literacy and linkage to care for HIV positive clients (ART)
and HIV negative clients (PEP). - Provide supportive counselling for adherence to Post-Exposure Prophylaxis
(PEP). - Provide treatment literacy for sexual and reproductive health services and link
to appropriate care. - Be present, at the survivor’s request, during the taking of the survivor’s
statement by the police, as well as during forensic examination. - Compile files, notes or reports that are addressed to the supervising social
worker. - Provide support to administrative tasks, such as assisting with reception
duties.
Requirements:
- Qualification on Social Auxiliary worker and be registered with the South
African Council for Social Service Professions - 1-2 years working experience with survivors of sexual violence
- Computer literacy (Intermediate level in MS Office package)
- Ability to communicate in English and IsiXhosa language.
- Drivers license
