SENIOR RISK AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER

CLOSING DATE: 26 July 2023 not later than 16h30

SALARY SCALE: R 351 955.86-R 457 506.14 per Annum (T12)

APPLICABLE BENEFITS: Medical Aid, Pension, 13th Cheque, and Homeowner’s Allowance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelor of Commerce / National Diploma majoring in Accounting / Local Government Finance/ Financial Management / Taxation /Internal Auditing /Risk Management / Auditing
  • 3 years experience in risk management
  • A valid driver’s license
  • An understanding of the Municipal Finance Management Act, Municipal Systems Act, and King IV report.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in a municipal environment, especially in auditing, will be an added advantage.
  • Registration with the Risk Management Institute/Institute of Internal Auditors will be an added advantage.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Communicate the municipality’s Risk Management Framework to all stakeholders in the municipality.
  • Monitor its implementation by facilitating orientation and training of the Risk Management Committee.
  • Continuously drive risk management to higher levels of maturity and assist Management with risk identification, assessment, the development of strategies, and monitoring the implementation of the response strategies.
  • Evaluate risk which involves comparing risk with criteria established by the municipality such as costs, legal requirements, environmental factors, and evaluating the organization’s previous methods for handling risks.
  • Participate in various meetings (Compliance and risk management committee, audit committee, internal audit steering committee, and external forums) and provide comments and opinions.
  • Respond to queries and questions, through the collection of factual information and presenting findings.
  • Report risk exposures to the appropriate authorities and bodies.
