Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent)
  • Valid Blasting Certificate
  • 2–3 years of trackless mining experience
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Medically fit for the specific work environment
  • Clear security screening record

Key Responsibilities

As a Miner General, your day-to-day duties will play a crucial role in maintaining productivity and safety underground. Here’s what you can expect:

Production Duties

  • Conduct daily re-entry examinations to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Mark off support structures and identify reef bands accurately
  • Prepare and charge the mining face for blasting.
  • Execute safe and controlled blasting procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate mining activities in line with production targets

Administration & Planning

  • Complete all required documentation accurately.
  • Assist with planning leave cycles for the team.
  • Monitor and drive the achievement of production targets.
  • Ensure efficient use of materials, machinery, and workforce.

People Management

  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training to team members.
  • Manage performance and support employee development.
  • Allocate tasks fairly and effectively.
  • Motivate and inspire your team to perform at their best

SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk & Quality)

Safety is a top priority in mining, and this role plays a key part in maintaining high standards:
  • Ensure all team members wear proper PPE at all times
  • Participate in SHERQ meetings, campaigns, and safety initiatives.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents and prevent recurrence.
  • Report all incidents and near misses promptly
  • Conduct Safe Behavioural Observations (SBOs) and Planned Task Observations (PTOs)
  • Collaborate with safety representatives and team members.
  • Participate in risk assessments and take corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and mine standards.
